Fullers Head of the River Four's

Eton 'C' racing past Chiswick Pier

On the 3rd November 3 crews from the Upper Boats squad raced at the Fuller’s Fours Head of the River race. The crews, put together over the preceding week in Ireland, raced the entire seven-and-a-half-kilometre championship course (the Boat Race course but in reverse) despite initial fears that it would have to be shortened due to strong winds below Hammersmith Bridge. While these inclement weather conditions did indeed present themselves, they were no match for the ECBC fours with all crews completing the course without incident or time penalty and posting a set of promising results. Eton ‘C’, racing in J18 Championship 4+ finished with a time of 20.49 placing them 6th in a very strong field of crews while Eton ‘B’ and ‘D’ were racing in J18 Challenge 4+ finishing in 20.46.5 and 21.20.1 and placing 1st and 5th respectively.

Eton 'B' on the way to a first place finish in Junior Challenge 4+

Not to be outdone the Vikings posted some very impressive performances with their respective crews with Felix Drinkall and Charlie Pearson winning the Academic Championship 4+ with Isis BC and Benedict Aldous, stroking Isis BC ‘B’, placing 5th in the same category. Theo Weinburger, for Goldie BC ‘D’, rowed them to a 1st place finish in the Academic Championship 4-. Also, in Acad Champ 4- Max Ridgewell was rowing with Imperial College BC placing 3rd.

Finally, we would like to thank the parents of the PSG who provided a cornucopia of food afterwards and also Mr Cross who had rigged all of the boats before we arrived in the morning.

Corrections: As of 05/11/18 the results for all of the ECBC crews have changed. Eton 'B' has been moved from Junior Challenge 4+ to Junior Championship 4+ due to their CRI score being too high for Challenge 4+ and now places 5th in that division, Eton 'C' has changed to time only recording a time of 20.49.0 which would have placed them 6th in Junior Championship 4+. Eton 'D' moved up one place in Junior Challenge 4+ to 4th place.
